I kind of popped out into the world wanting to create art.
OK, well maybe that’s a bit of an overstatement, but almost as soon as I could start drawing and cutting things up, I was fascinated that I could create something new out of things I’d find and put together, and that making it pleasing was the really fun part.
As a kid, I’d spend hours drawing and painting on cardboard, making intricate houses from shoe boxes and designing my own “dresses” from fabric remnants. I’d keep an art gallery on my bedroom door and sometimes my parent’s friends would buy my little masterpieces. It makes me laugh now to think back on it, but I like that the entrepreneurial spirit was always encouraged.
Creating has always been so important to me, so when it was time to get a degree, I decided to earn my bachelors degree in Fine Art from the University of South Florida.
After I graduated from USF, I enjoyed exhibiting my work in traveling shows and area galleries, learning about business in the real world, teaching art and music and, later, creating a long full-time business for myself as a freelance graphic and web designer working with small businesses. Though my career path didn’t always center on visual art, my passions always did.
For the past several years, I’ve steered my work away from web design and graphics in the business world and toward illustration and surface design instead. I love working both with traditional art materials and digitally, and I feel fulfilled as I move along this path.
I am interested in licensing arrangements and in representation with the right agency. Please get in touch with me if you’d like to see more of my work or talk about how we can create something great together.
